ELEMENTAL IDENTITIES PROJECT
In my portrait, I chose to tell the typical story of Godzilla in Tokyo. However the story has a little twist when it is batman who comes to save the day. I thought that it was a pretty good representation of neon because the city Godzilla is attacking is all lit up in neon signs, which are made of the element neon. The batman calling sign is also in a neon cloud.
I really likes this project because it allowed us to tell a story using science, which is something that I had never done before. WE had to do research on an element and what it was used for; then, using that information, we had to tell a story that incorporated the uses of the element, all in one picture. It allowed me to get creative and find one way to combine my imagination with science so that I could create a picture that depicts both at the same time. Although I, sadly, did not come up with the main idea of Godzilla attacking Tokyo or Batman, I did have to come up with a way to combine the two with neon.
I, personally, learned a lot from this project. I learned a lot about the element Neon and what it is used for in the world around us; and at first I thought that it was only used for glow sticks and neon signs, but I found out that it is also one of the colorless, odorless, and tasteless gasses that makes up the air. I was also not very familiar with the concept of Photoshop, so this project really helped me get the hang of it.
Some things that I would do differently next time would be to maybe a bit more creative because although I feel that I did a good job, I feel that I could have incorporated the element itself into the picture in a lot more ways. I would also use a different program to create the picture, because I feel that if I would have used a program that I was more familiar with, the picture could have turned out a lot better. I am, overall, very proud of myself for what I created, however.
