BIOLOGY
"Science moves with the spirit of an adventure characterized both by youthful arrogance and by the belief that the truth, once found, would be simple as well as pretty." -James Watson
This year in Biology, my team and I, with the guidance of our teachers Mr. Simon and Mrs. Nuvia, are working on a project called Beyond The Crossfire, which is about how we, the students, can dramatically reduce the amount of gun violence in the U.S. In Biology we are taking a different perspective by studying neuroscience in order to learn more about mental illness, parts of the brain that contribute to gun violence as we attempt to understand how the brain works and functions. In class, we try to read as many articles and book chapters about ht we are learning that week in order to have a better understanding on the topic. I am personally looking forward to learning more about how all of the different mental and brain illnesses can affect or shape a persons aggressive or violent personalities. I hope that as the year, and our project, unfolds, I will have a better understanding of how that relationship can connect to our project and to the world around me.
