For this project, we each had to bring in a piece of scrap cloth from home. Then in class, we had to cut it into two congruent rectangles. Then, we glued them together to make a bag. We could each design the bag in whichever way we wanted. I, for example, chose to just draw colored stripes with markers. After we had each finished decorating our bag, we had to write ourselves a letter that we would open at the end of the school year. In the letter, we had to tell ourselves what we would expect to have happened by the time freshman year ends. We could write things such as what grades we hope we graduated with, who you hoped to have gotten to know better, and more.
This was one of the first projects we all did as a class and i think that this really helped us to not only learn everybody's name, but to bond as a class by helping each other get whatever we need to complete our bag. I also thought that this helped us become more comfortable and made us feel free to express ourselves in whatever way we wanted to when completing our bag. Writing the letter was also a very good idea because it helped us set the goals we want to reach by the end of the year and gives us inspiration to continue trying to accomplish them.
